Terms of use
These are deliberately short. A tool that never receives your files does not need much of a contract about them.
1. What this is
OFCpdf ("the Service") is a free PDF editing tool published by OFCpdf ("we", "us") of the Republic of Maldives. It runs as software in your web browser. The Service is provided at no charge, with no account, and there is nothing to purchase.
2. Your documents
Documents you open are processed inside your own browser on your own device. We do not receive, store, transmit or process them. We could not produce a copy of your file if we were asked to, because we never had one.
It follows that you remain solely responsible for your documents — for having the right to work with them, for keeping your own copies, and for whatever you produce with the Service.
3. Keep your originals
The Service is designed never to modify the file you opened, and every export is reopened and checked before it is offered to you. That is engineering, not a guarantee. Software has defects. Keep the original of anything that matters. Verify important output before you rely on it, file it, or send it to anyone.
4. No warranty
The Service is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error free, or that any output will be suitable for a given purpose.
5. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, OFCpdf shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages, or for any loss of data, documents, profits, revenue or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service — whether based in contract, tort, negligence or any other legal theory, and whether or not we were advised of the possibility.
Because the Service is supplied free of charge and we receive nothing from you, our total aggregate liability to you in connection with the Service is limited to zero.
6. What the Service does and does not do
We describe the Service's capabilities carefully and we do not overstate them. In particular, and to be unambiguous:
- Adding a filled or coloured shape over content hides it visually but does not remove it. It is not redaction, we do not label it as such, and you must not rely on it to conceal information.
- The signature tool produces a visual signature — an image of a signature placed on the page. It is not a cryptographic digital signature and carries none of the assurances of one.
- Editing the original body text of an existing PDF is not supported. Text you add is new content placed on top.
Where the Service tells you that it cannot safely perform an operation, that message is the accurate one. Do not work around it.
7. Acceptable use
Do not use the Service to create forged, fraudulent or misleading documents, to impersonate a person or an institution, to produce a stamp or seal you are not entitled to apply, or for anything unlawful in your jurisdiction. The Service can produce official-looking artefacts; that carries an obligation on you, not a licence.
8. The software
These Terms govern your use of the hosted Service at https://ofcpdf.com. The Service is provided for your own use; you may not resell it, redistribute it as your own, or remove or obscure any notice within it.
9. Availability and changes
We may change, suspend or discontinue the hosted Service at any time without notice. Because the Service runs entirely on your device, a copy you have already downloaded will keep working regardless of what happens to this website — which is one of the reasons it is built this way. We recommend keeping a copy of the single-file build if you depend on it.
We may revise these Terms. The current version always sits at this address with its date at the top. Continued use after a change means you accept the revised version.
10. Third-party components
The Service includes open source components, principally PDF.js (Apache 2.0), pdf-lib (MIT) and fflate (MIT). Their licences apply to those components and their authors provide them without warranty.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Maldives, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Nothing here limits any right you have under mandatory consumer law in your own country that cannot be waived by agreement.
